Description:
Richard Chamberlin Sissons (1906-2001), youngest son of Harold Sissons, joined the company in 1926 at the age of 20. He had graduated at Cambridge University with a degree in economics and chemistry. He started as an apprentice in the company, serving in all departments of the factory, office and laboratories for four years. He then took on the responsibility for the manufacture of water paints and distempers when the previous department foreman Mr Fowler retired. He was appointed a director of the company from 1 Jan 1930. He was commissioned in the Royal Air Force during World War II, returned to the company after the war and retired in 1963.
