Description:
This seriescontains records of the Hull Judeans Maccabi Association, formerly the Hull Judeans Sports Club, incorporating the Hull Judeans Cricket Club. The Association has its roots in the formation of the Hull Judeans in the summer of 1919, and its first president was Mr Joe Aarons, Board Member of the Hull Town Cricket Club. The club, starting as a cricket club, expanded into football, tennis, hockey, dramatics, play-reading, table-tennis, and swimming, and ran its own band and concert party. Members were involved in fund raising events for charitable causes, both Jewish and non-Jewish. The organisation continued throughout WWII despite shortage of members due to service, and a junior branch was set up at this time.
