Storry, Witty & Co. were listed in 1863 at 150 Church Street, Wincolmlee, and described as paint, colour and whiting manufacturers. Later, varnish was added to their list of products. By 1892, they had moved to 264 Wincomlee Cooperage, York Street in Hull, premises they remained in until the late 1920s. In 1933, they had moved their office to Middleton Chambers on Lowgate in Hull. The secretary in 1901 was John Alfred Storry. After extensive damage during the air raids of WW2, the company moved to Beverley. The Whiting plant closed in February 1962. In 1970, the company was sold to Expandite Ltd a London based subsidiary of Burmah Industrial Products, and the firm was closed.
