F. de Cobain (cycle dealer, lay preacher, Hebrew scholar) of Goole willed his books of Jewish interest to Mr. Seltzer, who has passed them on to the Rabbi (details given);Jewish Literary Society's next function on Tuesday is a Colloquium on Moses Maimonides, led by Rev. J. Levinson; Mazzeltov to Leslie, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. Jospeh and to Keith Garfunkle (both become Barmitzvah); birthdays Morton Livingstone (5), Brian Sugarman (7); no children's Kiddush this afternoon and no Cheder Club meeting until further notice; thanks to seven people for their copies of number 37 and to Mr. E. Levinson for his early annual subscription; Rabbi and Mrs. B. Franks (late Chairman of Hebrew Girls School) had a conversation at which she entrusted (temporarily) two minute books with useful data; cutting from a local newspaper of 20 years ago sent to the Rabbi in which there is a report of the annual tea and prize distribution at the School in which the following people are mentioned: Ald. Benno Pearlman (distributed prizes and awarded each pupil a sixpenny piece), Miss A. Sheinrog (headmistress), Esther Levine (Esther Jacob's prize), Yetta Segal (consolation prize), Edna Kersh, Julia Goldstein (shared the Miss Symons prize); tree tribute for the late Mr. Joe Mostyn (took a Psycholgy class at Central Haltemprice W.E.A., Anlaby) by his students - 12 trees to be planted in the Coronation Forest in his memory; Hull Zionist Society on Tuesday evening had a lecture from Mr Louis Saipe (playwright, historian, communal worker) on the series of changes through which the Jew has passed during the last 70 years, Mr. S. Lang (Hon. President) in the chair, Mr. J. J. Nicholls (Treasurer) proposed vote of thanks.
