A Poor Rate Collectors Receipt Book is at reference C DMX/103, with Year books at L.339.1. There are a number of files concerning the administration of the poor law undertaken by Magistrates out of Sessions. These include records relating to Settlement issues (that is the uncertified residence by individuals of which the overseer of the poor had concerns regarding) and can be found at C CQE. Books and articles relating to the Poor Law in Hull include 'The care of the poor in Kingston-Upon-Hull in the Nineteenth Century' by Anne E Reynolds (at reference L.339.1) and 'The Kingston upon Hull Incorporation for the Poor, 1906-1914' an essay by H. G. Mulich (at reference C SRL/R/2). Former Hull City Archivist, Geoff Oxley, wrote a general book on the subject, 'Poor Relief in England and Wales, 1601-1834'.
