Hull Town Council Driffield Navigation Committee records

Dates:
1856

Description

Admin History:
In response to an improvement bill in parliament by the owners of the Driffield Navigation, Hull Town Council in February 1856 set up a committee to consider if such plans would impact on the Town's Old Harbour and the new waterworks. The committee would work closely with the Shipping Dues Committee (see C TCSH), particulary with regard to parliamentary liaison. It was wound up after a report presented in August 1856 indicated the bill was defeated in parliament due to opposition from local landowners
Description:
Apart from records within the main committee series and any associated reports, there does not appear to be any additional records for the Driffield Navigation Committee
