Records of the Hull Town Council Printing and Stationery Committee

Dates:
1847-1859

Description

Admin History:

With the need to post notices in many public places regarding the activities of the council and its meetings, the issue of printing and stationary was particularly important one. Until the establishment of a specific committee, the full council would regularly have to address the needs for printing, and tenders were frequently received and reviewed. The first specific committee to consider these matters though was set up in November 1847. It was to receive estimates as to the printing and stationery required by the council and its committees, and to superintend and enter into all contracts relating thereto, on the council's behalf.

These powers were revised in 1875/1876 when it was to provide the Printing and Stationery required by the council and by its committees and officers in the various departments and to select annually the Printers and Stationers to be employed by the council. The committee was dissolved in October 1876 and became part of the Property and Finance Committee.
