Register of Canal Boats under 35 George III cap. 58 'An Act for requiring all boats, barges and other vessels of certain descriptions, used on navigable rivers and on inland navigations, in Great Britain, to be registered.' This Act was only concerned with vessels over 13 tons.

Formerly Stanewell's reference M.445. The register records the kind of vessel, burden, master's name, number of men employed and in what capacity was laid down by statute, as was the registering of vessels in order of the routes they worked. The original register is in a fragile condition and cannot be produced to users. A transcription is availablein the search room. Please ask a member of staff.
