Affidavit

Reference No:
C BRV/16/44
Dates:
27 Feb 1682
Description:
Oath sworn by William Peirson, Samuell Boulton, and John Pape, all labourers of Hull, that they are servants of the Mayor and Burgesses of Hull working at the Woolhouse, and that they distrained lead belonging to John Bagshawe of London for non-payment of dues, sworn before Edward Haslam. Note that on the reverse is the opinion of Tho. Stringer that a case brought against the above officers in Derbyshire should not be answered and that they Mator and Burgesses should proceed with their own case in Exchequer. Relates to a case brought in 1682 by the Mayor and Burgesses of Hull against Michael Beilby, Richard Taylor of Newhill, merchant, and Richard Taylor of Waldingwell, merchant, concerning the evasion of woolhouse dues.
