At the end of the Second World War in 1945 the directors prepared this short history of what the war meant to Sissons and the paint industry in general. A.R. P. preparations at Sissons, the effects that the war had on the City of Hull. Eye witness accounts of the nights of 13 & 18 Mar and 18 Jul 1941 when the Sissons factory suffered bombing from the air, pictures of the devastation. The effect on production is discussed with the Government prioritising output. In Sep 1942 the Sissons Company were certified by the Ministry of Labour and National Service as a 'Scheduled Undertaking' under the Essential Works (General Provision) Order, 1942, and as manufacturers they were expressly forbidden to sell paint products for other than approved purposes. The effect of the war on the export market is also discussed, as is the transition from war to peace
