Article from an unknown publication (with an illustration) about a stack of old boilers

Reference No:
C DBSS/5/2/16
Dates:
c. 1915
Description:
This article discusses the process of converting a stack of old boilers into storage tanks for spirits and oils used in the manufacture of varnish. See C DBSS/4/2/25 for a photograph. This stack was erected by the firm's employees in 1915 and famously survived the Second World War bombings. By raising the boilers well above the ground their contents could run by gravity directly into the varnish works, thereby eliminating a considerable amount of handling. See C DBSS/4/2/25 for an original photograph of the boilers
