This seriescontains records relating to the Hull branch of the Ladies Hebrew Benevolent Society. The Society was formed thanks to the efforts of Reverend H. Bender, the first Honorary Secretary. Its establishment was agreed at a meeting held in Jan 1860 which meeting was presided over by Mr S. Mosely, and a constitution was approved in 1861. The object of the society was to provide financial assistance to persons residing in Hull belonging to the Jewish faith who were in need of aid.
