The volume details the principle financial transactions of the Humber Conservancy Commissioners. An alphabetical index can be found at the front of the volume.
This includes contributions made to the Conservancy by Hull Corporation, Hull Trinity House, the Hull Dock Company, the Aire and Calder Navigation, and various railway companies with operations in the Humber region. It also details salary and expense payments made to: the Mate of the s.s. 'Auckland' (George Clark); the Engineer of the s.s. 'Auckland' (Henry Strawson); the Driver of the s.s. 'Auckland' (Mr J.. A. Simmons); the Stoker of the s.s. 'Auckland' (Robert J. Taylor); the Conservator of the Humber (John Bertie Cator); John Wilkin; the Clerk to the Conservancy (Edward Shimells Wilson); Messrs Sacré and William Hammond Bartholomew [Joint Engineers to the Commissioners]; and the Office Keeper (Rachel Hercliff).
Conservancy expenses detailed in the volume includes: office rent; ; the operation and maintenance of the s.s. 'Auckland'; Parliamentary Bills; maps and charts; printing, advertising, and stationery; election of elected shipowners; Sundries; Reads Island; Foreshores; removal of wrecks and obstructions; the operation and maintenance of the steam launch 'Humber'; the operation and maintenance of a salvage vessel; legal fees and taxes.
Financial transactions such as annual summaries of accounts, a mortgage for affecting improvements at Reads Island, the Sinking Fund (for liquidation of debts to Hull Trinity House), and mortgages made by the Commissioners, are detailed within the volume. This also includes rents received from land and property.
