The file contains, correspondence, memoranda, notes, and working papers relating to the operation of the Humber Conservancy Board's branch offices at Grimsby and Goole. This includes notes on visits to these branches by the Chief Collector (Harry Colquhoun), which typically contain comments, queries, and instructions regarding the work being undertaken. It also includes reports from the Assistant Collector (James Chadwick) on periods of relief duty at the foresaid branch offices. These reports typically provide an outline of the routine of the office, and status of the work, at the branch in question.

An addition, the file also contains a reference list of fishing vessels not registered at Grimsby in 1948, notes on how adjustments should be handled for vessesl calling at more than one port on the Humber, and correspondence (31 October 1931 to 11 April 1938) with the Collector of Dues at Keadby (Jack Wharton).
