- The file comprises correspondence, sent (and received) by the Engineer to the Humber Conservancy Board (Arthur Ernest Butterfield), to/from contractors carrying out maintenance work on the steam launch 'W.S. Wright' or supplying equipment for the vessel. The correspondence covers all aspects of the operation of the steam launch, plus details of damage sustained to the launch following a collision with the steamer Sea Nymph in Humber Dock. This includes operational work throughout the Humber, the Aire and Calder Navigation, the River Trent and so on. Also covered in the file are the terms and conditions of employment for the vessels crew (G.A. Hatfield, H. Carr, C. Foster, R. Hopper, and C.Winters), and requests from other bodies requesting the temporary use of the 'W. S. Wright'.
