- File comprises correspondence between the engineer to the Humber Conservancy Board, the Spurn Lifeboat Station, HM Coastguard, Scarborough, the Board of Trade, Westminster, and various sloop owners, regarding gravel extraction from South of the Binks, East of Spurn Point. Also includes correspondence regarding the extraction of gravel from the beach at Withernsea by a man called Medforth. This resulted in the Board of Trade becoming involved (see letter dated 4 May 1931) including formally publishing correspondence in the London Gazette on 24 April 1931 in order to enforce the law, going back to 1869, to stop any person removing shingle or ballast from Withernsea beach. Also includes correspondence regarding the removal of material from the foreshore at Hornsea.
