Description:
File comprises correspondence between the engineer to the Humber Conservancy Board, the Superintendent of the Upper River Humber, various lightship crew members, and various shipping companies, regarding the grounding of various vessels within the River Humber System. Most of the grounded vessels managed to re-float at the next high tide. Includes correspondence regarding the S.S. Solhavn which was heavily loaded and grounded in the upper Humber at Whitton Ness on a neap tide causing a considerable shipping hazard.
