Description:: File comprises correspondence between the engineer to the Humber Conservancy Board, Brigham and Cowan Ship Repairers Ltd, the Gas Accumulator Co. Ltd. Brentford and Chance Brothers Ltd. Smethwick, regarding the operation, repair and maintenance of the Holme Ridge lightship No. 8 (Bull Lightship). Includes correspondence regarding crew members (new appointments, accidents, etc.), including correspondence regarding an injury to seaman B. R. Rasberry whilst on Duty. Also includes a specification for overhauling the lightship, as well as correspondence regarding E. Oxley, who was in the RAF but was urgently required by the Board because of his experience of working on the lightship. It appears that the Board was having great difficulty in obtaining Oxley's release from the RAF in 1941.
