The file consists of correspondence between the Engineer to the Humber Conservancy Board (Ralph John Hindmarsh), the Marine Engineer Superintendent to the Board, and various suppliers and contractors, regarding maintenance work required by the Bull Light Vessel [HCB LV 8]. This includes a number of specifications for dry docking and overhaul work on the vessel (dated March 1953 and May 1957), as well as a specification for the construction of a lookout station on the vessel (dated July 1953).

Also included in the file are a number of statements of expenses incurred by the Board as a result of collisions between the Bull Lightship and shipping in the Humber, and manuscript reports from various members of the crew regarding breakages of equipment, and operational problems, etc.
