The file consists of correspondence between the Secretary to the Humber Conservancy Board (Alfred William Franklin until 1945, then Herbert Thomas Edwards), the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, the War Office, and the Gas Accumulator Company Limited at Brentford on the subject of Spurn Point. In particular, changes to the lighting characteristics of Spurn Lighthouse and talk of the possibility of converting it to an unmanned lighthouse (or discontinuing it altogether). There is also discussion over the life expectancy of the road to Spurn Point.
The file also includes correspondence between the Board and the Head Quarters of Northern Command discussing the future of Spurn Point and the Bull and Haile Sands Forts in the Humber.
