The file consists of of correspondence, sent (and received) by the Engineer to the Humber Conservancy Board (Arthur Ernest Butterfield), to/from the Humber Pilots’ Steam Cutter Company Limited on the subject of the loan from the Conservancy of the steam launch 'Pilot'; the 'Pilot' was subsequently transferred from the Humber Conservancy Board to the Humber Pilots’ Steam Cutter Company Limited.

It includes a list of repairs drawn up by the Humber Pilots required for the launch before they assume control, as a well as specifications drawn up to detail work needed. There is therefore correspondence with various supplies and contractors on the subject of this repair work. Returns of the forms 'Stores Required' (Form A) can also be found in the file.

Further correspondence, dated 2 September 1913, is concerned with a collision involving the P.S. 'Killingholme' at the Hull Pontoon.
