The file has been split into two folders.

[1st folder]

The folder consists of correspondence between the Engineer to the Humber Conservancy Board (Arthur Ernest Butterfield), Mr Leggott of Ouston Ferry, and various owners of wrecks (or other property) considered a hinderance to navigation on the River Trent. The correspondence is concerned with the removal of these obstructions, and issues surrounding the discharge of industrial waste into the River. Photographs can also be found in the file illustrating the following:

1. A dilapidated jetty on the River Trent

2. The removal of the sloop 'Ann' at Morrisons Chemical Works near West Stockwith

The folder consists of correspondence and papers related to the removal of the following wrecks from the Trent: 'Friends' and 'Waterwitch'; the 'Eastern Countries'; and the keel 'Frances', as well as removal of the old landing stage at Hessle. Photographs of the 'Frances' can be found within the file.
