The file consists of correspondence between the Engineer (Arthur Ernest Butterfield) and Secretary (Alfred William Franklin) to the Humber Conservancy Board and the Conservator of the Humber (Captain T. H. Heming, RN retired), the Admiralty Port Officer at Immingham, and the Hydrographic Department of the Admiralty. The subject matter is surveys of various sections of the Humber from the sea up to the River Trent carried out by the Humber Conservancy Board. Evidence of friction between the Board's officers can be found within the file: see letters dated 8 May 1913 and 16 June 1913.
