- The file consists of correspondence between the Engineer to the Humber Conservancy Board (Arthur Ernest Butterfield), the Secretary to the Board (Alfred William Franklin), and the Estate Agent for the North Eastern Railway Company based at York. The subject matter is the rate of erosion of the foreshore at Brough Growths (between Crabley and Brough). This includes drawings and foreshore surveys showing the foreshore adjacent to lands occupied by Messrs Mr R. Johnson and Mr J. Carr. The file includes discussion surrounding a suggestion that the foreshore may need to be strengthened along lines similar to works undertaken at the eastern end of Broomfleet Estate; an estimate for the cost of this work can be found within the file.
