- The file consists of correspondence between the Engineer to the Humber Conservancy Board (Arthur Ernest Butterfield), representatives of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway, the Admiralty Port Officer (Immingham), the Admiralty Port Officer (Hull), and the Humber Pilot’s Office. The subject matter is the grounding (and re-floating) of various vessels within the Humber. This includes returns of forms reporting groundings (including vessel name, location, time and date, weather conditions, state of tide), telephone reports received from pilots on hazards in the river (e.g. sandbanks shifting position), as well as drawings showing the positions of grounded vessels.
