The file consists of of correspondence between the Engineer to the Humber Conservancy Board (Arthur Ernest Butterfield), various contractors and suppliers of equipment and fuel (coal), and the Master of the S.L. 'Spurn'. The subject matter is the operation and maintenance of the steam launch. This includes correspondence regarding the cleaning and de-scaling of the Launch’s boiler, reports of damage to the Launch, and returns of accident report forms.
A specification of work required by the Launch can be found within the file, along with a report (dated 19 February 1919) of services rendered by the Launch in connection labour undertaken by prisoners of war at Read’s Island.
