- Description:
- The file consists of correspondence between the Engineer to the Humber Conservancy Board (Arthur Ernest Butterfield), the Assistant Docks Engineer for the North Eastern Railway, representatives of the Great Central Railway (based at Grimsby Docks), representatives of the Board of Trade (based in London), and representatives of Earles Shipbuilding and Engineering Company Limited. The subject matter is the deposition of dredging deposits in the vicinity of Earle's shipyard; Messrs Earles Shipbuilding had raised objections to the continuation of this work. The file therefore includes discussion concerning the possible utilisation of other sites in the Humber(e.g. near King George Dock, Salt End Jetty, New Holland Dock, etc.). The file also includes discussion connected with the improper deposition of mud near the Bull Lightship.
