- The file consists of correspondence between the Engineer to the Humber Conservancy Board (Arthur Ernest Butterfield), the Conservator for the Humber's Office, and the Admiralty Port Officer (based at Immingham). The subject matter is work carried out on Humber defences. This includes the removal of boom defences from the Humber after the end of the First World War, the sweeping of the river to check for protruding piles, chalk mounds on the river bed, etc.. Extracts from the logs of the steam launches 'Wright' and 'Spurn' detail work undertaken by these vessels.
