Description:: The file consists of correspondence between the Engineer to the Humber Conservancy Board (Arthur Ernest Butterfield), the Humber Pilots, various lighthouse keepers based throughout the Humber, and representatives of the Ministry of Transport. The subject matter is shipping rules and regulations. The file therefore includes copies notices to mariners (issued by either the Humber Conservancy or the Admiralty) in connection with alterations to, or the enforcement of, these rules and regulations. It also includes correspondence regarding river craft lying at places along the Humber and River Trent concerning regulations granting them exemptions from the Humber Bye Laws, 1910.
