The seriescomprises papers accumulated by Arthur Ernest Butterfield, as a member of Hull Rotary Club, in connection with his work on the Water Pageant Committee of 1929 in the capacity of Convenor; the purpose of the Committee being to arrange a Water Pageant and Gala (held 11 May 1929 at East Park) to raise money for Hull Royal Infirmary.

These papers include correspondence [C DPD/1/3/5/10/2], minutes [C DPD/1/3/5/10/1], and plans of the proposed event [C DPD/1/3/5/10/7–8]. It also includes material concerning tenders for a fireworks display [C DPD/1/3/5/10/3–4 and 6], a copy of the official programme [C DPD/1/3/5/10/5], and a large poster advertising the pyrotechnic company Joseph Wells and Sons [C DPD/1/3/5/10/9].
