Description:

A print copy of a letter sent to shareholders advising them of the Company's loss of revenue, as a result of the opening of Alexandra Dock by the Hull and Barnsley Railway in 1885. It covers the precarious position of the Company, and offers debenture (or preference) stock holders a conversion into stock guaranteed by the North Eastern Railway prior to Parliamentary authorisation being sought for a merger with that company. It includes blank forms for a response to the offer.
