Description:

A package containing papers surrendered to the Aire and Calder Navigation on 12 December 1898 by William Oakes' Trustees. The papers are connected with Leasehold premises (Nos. 62 and 136) situate in Albert Street in the town of Goole, Yorkshire. The package includes the following:

Deeds (1849–1898):

1. Lease No. 62 for 99 years (19 March 1849): the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation to William Oakes. It includes an inset plan showing the land and property in question. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned Leasee, and the following representatives of the Navigation: Sir William Mordaunt Milner, John Spencer Stanhope, William Mordaunt Edward Milner, and John George Smyth.

2. Counterpart of Lease No. 62 for 99 years (19 March 1849): the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation to William Oakes. It includes an inset plan showing the land and property in question. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned Leasee.

3. Underlease of No. 62 (9 April 1860): William Oakes (with the consent of the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation) to Thomas Clegg. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned parties.

4. Counterpart of Lease No. 136 (31 July 1867): the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation to William Oakes. It includes an inset plan showing the land and property in question. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned Leasee.

5. Transfer of Mortgage (9 October 1888): Messrs John Clegg and Robert Blair to Rebecca Weatherill. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned parties, Jane Major, and James Postill.

6. Surrender of Leasehold (12 December 1898): The Executors and Mortgagee of William Oakes to Walter Thomas William Spencer Stanhope and others (Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation). The Deed has been signed and sealed by Rebecca Weatherill, Jane Major, and James Postill.
