Description:

A package (divided into two folders) containing papers surrendered to the Aire and Calder Navigation on 3 April 1902 by Richard Cooper. The papers are connected with Leasehold premises (No. 85) situate in Bridge Street in the town of Goole, Yorkshire. The package includes the following:

[Part 1]

Deeds (1853–1902):

1. Lease for 99 years (16 May 1853): the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation to John Cawood. It includes an inset plan showing the land and property in question. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the following representatives of the Navigation: Sir William Mordaunt Milner, John Spencer Stanhope, William Mordaunt Edward Milner, and John George Smyth.

2. Counterpart of Lease (16 May 1853): the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation to John Cawood. It includes an inset plan showing the land and property in question. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned Leasee.

3. Assignment of Leasehold (12 October 1867): John Kassell (with the consent of the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation) to Messrs Henry Kassell and William Kassell. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned parties, and Marmaduke Storr Hodson on behalf of the Navigation.

4. Assignment of Leasehold (12 October 1867): Mark Ambrose Kassell (with the consent of the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation) to Messrs Henry Kassell and William Kassell. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned parties, and Marmaduke Storr Hodson on behalf of the Navigation.

5. Assignment of Leasehold (14 October 1867): Thomas James Kassell (with the consent of the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation) to Messrs Henry Kassell and William Kassell. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned parties, and Marmaduke Storr Hodson on behalf of the Navigation.

6. Assignment of Leasehold (6 November 1878): John Humble Rockett (with the consent of the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation) to Richard Cooper. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned parties, and Marmaduke Storr Hodson on behalf of the Navigation.

7. Mortgage of Leasehold (10 October 1885): Richard Cooper (with the consent of the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation) to Thomas Clegg. The Deed has been signed and sealed by Richard Cooper the Leasee, and Marmaduke Storr Hodson on behalf of the Navigation.

8. Mortgage of Leasehold (5 March 1890): Richard Cooper and his Mortgagee to the Halifax Permanent Benefit Building Society. The Deed bears the seal of the aforementioned Building Society.

9. Surrender of Leasehold (3 April 1902): Richard Cooper to the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation. It includes a plan showing the land and property in question. The Deed has been signed by the aforementioned Leasee.
