Description:

A package containing papers surrendered to the Aire and Calder Navigation on 28 May 1906 by Hartley's Brewery Company Limited. The papers are connected with Leasehold premises (No. 45): Ship Inn, situate between Barge Dock Side and South Street in the town of Goole, Yorkshire. The package includes the following:

Deeds (1841–1906):

1. Lease for 99 years (2 August 1841): the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation to Robert Briggs. It includes an inset plan showing the land and property in question. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the following representatives of the Navigation: Sir William Mordaunt Milner, John Spencer Stanhope, Richard Fountayne Wilson, and Sir John Lowther.

2. Counterpart of ease for 99 years (2 August 1841): the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation to Robert Briggs. It includes an inset plan showing the land and property in question. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned Leasee.

3. Assignment of Leasehold (25 February 1878): George Briggs (with the consent of the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation) to Thomas Clegg. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned parties, and Marmaduke Storr Hodson on behalf of the Navigation.

4. Assignment of Leasehold (28 December 1881): Thomas Clegg (with the consent of the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation) to George Briggs. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned parties, and Marmaduke Storr Hodson on behalf of the Navigation.

5. Mortgage of Leasehold (29 December 1881): George Briggs (with the consent of the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation) to Messrs Charles Bromley and Richard Haldenby. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned parties, and Marmaduke Storr Hodson on behalf of the Navigation.

6. Assignment of Leasehold (17 May 1898): Messrs Thomas Fish Spivey, Richard Dalton, and Charles Bromley their Mortgagee to Alfred Moffatt. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned parties, and Samuel Barraclough on behalf of the Navigation.

7. Assignment of Leasehold (5 February 1900): Herbert Oates, Arthur Moffatt, and Tom Moffatt to Hartley's Brewery Company Limited. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned parties, and Samuel Barraclough on behalf of the Navigation. It also bears the seal of the aforementioned Brewery Company.

8. Surrender of Leasehold (28 May 1906): Hartley's Brewery Company Limited to the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation. The Deed bears the seal of the aforementioned Brewing Company and the seal of the Navigation.
