Description:

A package (divided into two folders) containing papers surrendered to the Aire and Calder Navigation on 21 August 1895 by George Hewson. The papers are connected with Leasehold premises (No. 73) situate in Bridge Street in the town of Goole, Yorkshire. The package includes the following:

[Part 1]

Deeds (1850–1895):

1. Lease for 99 years (5 August 1850): the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation to Margaret Ledsom. It includes an inset plan showing the land and property in question. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned Leasee, and the following representatives of the Aire and Calder Navigation: Sir William Mordaunt Milner, John Spencer Stanhope, William Mordaunt Edward Milner, and John George Smyth.

2. Counterpart of Lease for 99 years (5 August 1850): the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation to Margaret Ledsom. It includes an inset plan showing the land and property in question. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned Leasee.

3. Mortgage of Leasehold (22 March 1851): Margaret Ledsom (with the consent of the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation) to the Trustees of the Provincial Benefit Building Society. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned Leasee, and Joseph Priestley on behalf of the Navigation.

4. Assignment of Leasehold (15 December 1853): William Steel and Margaret Steel (late Margaret Ledsom)—with the consent of the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation—to William Greenfield. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned parties, and John Dunkrow Hall on behalf of the Navigation.

5. Assignment of Leasehold (21 October 1874): John Waterland (with the consent of the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation) to George Hewson. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned parties, and Marmaduke Storr Hodson on behalf of the Navigation.

6. Surrender of Leasehold (21 August 1895): George Hewson to Walter Thomas William Spencer Stanhope and others (Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation). The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned parties.
