Description:

A package containing papers surrendered to the Aire and Calder Navigation on 1 November 1917 by Randal Hopley. The papers are connected with Leasehold premises (No. 52) situate in North Street in the town of Goole, Yorkshire. The package includes the following:

Deeds (1841–1917):

1. Lease for 99 years (2 August 1841): the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation to Robert Bromley. It includes an inset plan showing the land and property in question. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned Leasee, and the following representatives of the Navigation: Sir William Mordaunt Milner, John Spencer Stanhope, Richard Fountayne Wilson, and Sir John Lowther.

2. Counterpart of Lease for 99 years (2 August 1841): the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation to Robert Bromley. It includes an inset plan showing the land and property in question. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned Leasee.

3. Assignment of Leasehold (17 September 1872): Robert Bromley (with the consent of the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation) to William Green. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned parties, and Marmaduke Storr Hodson on behalf of the Navigation.

4. Mortgage of Leasehold (18 September 1872): William Green (with the consent of the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation) to Robert Bromley. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned parties, and Marmaduke Storr Hodson on behalf of the Navigation.

5. Assignment of Leasehold (7 December 1876): the Reverend Thomas Green, Robert Bell Bromley, and Charles Bromley (with the consent of the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation) to Annie Elizabeth Green. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned parties, and Marmaduke Storr Hodson on behalf of the Navigation.

6. Mortgage of Leasehold (18 June 1877): Annie Elizabeth Green (with the consent of the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation) to the Halifax Permanent Building Society. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned Mrs Green, and Marmaduke Storr Hodson on behalf of the Navigation. It also bears the seal of the aforementioned Building Society.

7. Mortgage of Leasehold (28 September 1887) to secure £300: Annie Elizabeth Green (with the consent of the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation) to Messrs John Waterland and James Harrison. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned Mrs Green, and Marmaduke Storr Hodson on behalf of the Navigation.

8. Transfer of Mortgage (1 March 1889): John Waterland (with the consent of the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation) to William Nothard, Daniel Jackson, and John Jackson Tate. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned parties, and Marmaduke Storr Hodson on behalf of the Navigation.

9. Assignment of Leasehold (2 December 1896): Charles Bromley, William Nothard, John Jackson, Daniel Jackson, and John Jackson Tate, the Executors and Mortgagees of Annie Elizabeth Green, deceased, (with the consent of the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation) to Sarah Margaret Gaggs.

10. Assignment of Leasehold (20 August 1904): Richard Haldenby to Fred Hewson. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned parties.

11. Assignment of Leasehold (31 March 1906): Fred Hewson to Randal Hopley. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned parties.

12. Assignment of Leasehold (1 November 1917): Randal Hopley to the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned Leasee, and Samuel Barraclough on behalf of the Navigation. It also bears the seal of the Trusees of the Navigation.
