Description:

A package containing papers surrendered to the Aire and Calder Navigation on 12 December 1929 by Ferdinand Hartmann Ellicott. The papers are connected with Leasehold premises (No. 117) situate in East Parade in the town of Goole, Yorkshire. The package includes the following:

Deeds (1862–1929):

1. Lease for 99 years (14 January 1862): the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation to William Holdsworth. It includes an inset plan showing the land and property in question. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned Leasee, and the following representatives of the Navigation: John Spencer Stanhope, John George Smyth, William Mordaunt Edward Milner, and Andrew Montagu.

2. Counterpart of Lease for 99 years (14 January 1862): the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation to William Holdsworth. It includes an inset plan showing the land and property in question. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned Leasee.

3. Assignment of Leasehold (28 February 1874): William Holdsworth (with the consent of the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation) to John Gardiner. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned parties, and Marmaduke Storr Hodson on behalf of the Navigation.

4. Assignment of Leasehold (5 April 1886): Frederick John Gardiner, Henry Trevor, and John Frederick Tyars, the Executors of the late John Gardiner, to Henry Trevor Gardiner. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned parties, and Marmaduke Storr Hodson on behalf of the Navigation.

5. Mortgage of Leasehold (21 March 1891): Henry Trevor Gardiner (with the consent of the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation) to the Halifax Permanent Benefit Building Society. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned Leasee, and Marmaduke Storr Hodson on behalf of the Navigation. It also bears the seal of the aforementioned Building Society.

6. Assignment of Leasehold (31 December 1891): Henry Trevor Gardiner (with the consent of the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation) to Thomas Edward Martin. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned parties, Henry Charles Ferdinand Hartmann, and Marmaduke Storr Hodson on behalf of the Navigation.

7. Assignment of Leasehold (23 December 1898): Thomas Edward Martin (with the consent of the Trustees of the Navigation) to Henry Charles Ferdinand Hartmann. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned parties, and Samuel Barraclough on behalf of the Navigation.

8. Surrender of Leasehold (12 December 1929): Ferdinand Hartmann Ellicott to the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned Leasee, and bears the seal of the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation.
