The folder contains two bundles:

1. a bundle of correspondence between Sir John Eaglesome (Managing Director of the Aire and Calder Navigation and Chairman of the Goole Emergency Committee) with the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation on the subject of the establishment of the Port of Goole Emergency Committee.

2. a bundle of copy correspondence supplied to the Trustees for their information during September and October 1938. This second bundle contains secret and confidential correspondence, dated 27 July to 29 September 1938, sent between officials of the Ministry of Transport (F. C. Bunn and A. T. V. Robinson) and Sir John Eagletone. The subject matter is air raid precautions for the town of Goole, the establishment of the aforementioned Emergency Committee, port operations, and other wartime preparations.
