A bundle of correspondence between Sir John Eaglesome (Managing Director of the Aire and Calder Navigation, and Chairman of the Goole Emergency Committee) or his successor H. B. Emley, and officials at the Ministry of Transport. The subjects covered includes the following: the functions of the Emergency Committee, the composition of the Committee, the co-ordination of inland transport with port working, the control of shipping during wartime, and a test diversion of shipping (May 1939).

A copy of the Admiralty memorandum 'Damage to Caissons, Dock Gates and Docks' May 1939 can also be found within the bundle.
