The bundle contains a letter dated 24 January 1905 from A. Currer Briggs to Charles H. Pile (Pile and Company, Steam Ship Owners and Brokers) outlining his objections to a statement made to the Umpire (Edward Pembroke) by John A. F. Aspinall, which disclosed statements made in confidence prior to the signing of an agreement with the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway to sell the Shipping Company. The letter also discloses Currer Briggs' version of events.

The bundle also includes a draft copy dated 19 January 1905 of the aforementioned letter, with a reply from William Hamond Bartholomew dated 21 January 1905 commenting on the draft. Copies of earlier correspondence dated 19 and 27 May 1904 regarding the meeting have also been enclosed to support the arguements made in Mr Briggs' letter.
