January 28 Iceing a smack. The alarm of Hull wanted towing all her sails being blown away being a fresh wind . We having three reefs down at the time. Took hold of him towed him all Monday in the WSW. Tacked at 6 O'clock at night then towing N by W wind veering til Tuesday. Broke our own [ ? ] Block.

May 7th Spurn about W280 miles Horne Reef Lightship about SW. Putting fish in the boat when the smack Nero of Hull ranged up alongside smashed our boat completely to pieces.We laying to (dead) ahead of the cutter taking in fish. The Nero came alongside smashing our boat and doing other damage to rigging etc.
