William Bannister, the cook age 27 years old would not do his work from the day we sailed, until we had been out 16 days, and the he was so dirty. He having washed his face, only once since we have been to sea . He was so dirty that we couldn't eat anything he made. He would abuse himself and all the crew have seen him. He struck the mate with a side light and knocked a large piece of skin off his face and two pieces off his hand. 1st January he refused duty and went down the main hold and stayed there until today. William bannister, to whom reference is made, was discharged at sea on the 7th January 1893 with his own consent, because he would not fulfil his duties in a proper manner. he was sent to London by cutter Africa of Hull.
