Memoranda by Skipper. On Tuesday March 6th whilst fishing, we sighted a large steamerwith his cables down, we bore down to him and found him to be the SS Marie and that he had lost his rudder. I asked the captain if we should assist him to port and he said no, I think I can manage myself and he rigged some appliance but it failed to answer. Then he told me to take hold of his cable & tow him to port which we did with the assistance of the SS Oberon. Reached the Humber on the 8th & gave him up to the tug Champion of Grimsby to dock and we came in to land our fish.
