2/3/96 9.50pm North Sea. Damaged 90 fathoms of warp and loss of net. Our gear became fast to some obstruction at the bottom of the sea. We were showing red flares to signal this, but the smack Croft of Hull towed across our gear.

22/4/96 North Sea. Name of person punished - John Eastick by A Edwards. John Eastick, 3rd hand refused duty during time of hauling gear. April 22nd 1896. Put on bread & water for one meal but he refused to partake of them & fasted. He resumed duty about 1am 23/4/96 having struck for 9 hours in all.

John Eastick 3rd hand having conducted himself in a proper manner since the date he refused duty, no proceedings will be taken against him.
