Official Log. On Saturday morning July 10th the deck hand G W Smith went to sleep on the bridge, whilst on watch. On Thursday afternoon July 14th 1896 the deck hand G H Smith again went to sleep whilst on watch.

On Wednesday morning July 15th 1896 about 10am the 3rd hand J Tompkins went to sleep whilst on watch.

Hull 13/1/97. Relative to the foregoing no forfeitures were inflicted under the Regulations for Maintaining discipline owing to the long hours the men had to work , their breach of discipline was considered to be under extenuating circumstances.
