5/2/1900 J W Scott, 3rd Hand. Washed overboard & was drowned. Thursday April 5th 1900, about 10.30am. I hailed a topsail schooner in distress with Norwegian ensign in port main rigging, which turned out to be the Orton of Lillesand from shields to Christiansand. Hailing the captain he said "We are in a sinking condition with pump choked , will you take us off"
