Memoranda by Skipper.

February 1st 1885. On Sunday afternoon at 5 O'clock we were shooting our trawl on the starboard tack in we found that the rope was cut with a knife one strand cut through and the others cut and jagged. We had only just time to save it after we spliced rope , and wearing again the rope was cut again. We did not know but had great suspicion of the chap who was cook and his companion a lad on a trial. We found out by another chap on a trial whose name was John T Russell witness to the cutting of the rope. The cook William Breen said he cut the rope first and then persuaded the other lad George ONeale to do the same .

Record of Casualty.

Sunday February 22nd Little Fisher Bank North Sea. Lost our Gear. Blowing a heavy gale at the time and shipped a heavy sea.
