Memoranda by Skipper.

Monday December 27th 1884. Whilst coming up the River Humber and making for Hull being abreast of the Hull Docks came into collision with the SS Hero of Hull. Falling across his bows thereby parting his cable and causing him to drift up the River for a considerable distance taking us with him. When abreast of the St Andrews dock we sank . The cause of the Casualty was that we let go our anchor which would not hold on account of the very strong tide running at the time. The crew being taken on board the SS Hero were safely landed in Hull.

Record of Casualty.

September 10th 1884. Spurn bearing W by S half S about 250 miles. Lost our gear, by coming fast to a wreck at the bottom of the sea.
