Record of Casualty.
12/10/84 ENE end of Dogger Bank 180 miles from Spurn. Collided with James & Maria of Hull H1068 splitting her mizzen sail 3 stancheons & a portion of rail. Neglect of one deck hand owing to his omitting to port our helm at the proper time.
Record of Illtreatment or Punishment.
Name of whom illtreated / punished - William Herbert. Name of person by whom illtreated / punished - William Matthew. Punished 11 October 1884. Offence- attempting to shove the skipper overboard. Nature of punishment - Three blows on the nose with fist. Note- after questioning the crew concerning the above, it appears to have been a mistake on the part of the skipper, in thinking that William Herbert attempted to push him overboard which was owing to the vessel giving a sudden jerk. Herbert was thrown against the skipper who at the time was leaning against the bulwarks. No punishment was inflicted upon Herberts.
