Memoranda by Skipper. Sunday December 21st 3am. Entering the River Humber Spurn bearing S 2 miles. Whilst laying on the starboard tack the smack George Herbert of Hull ran into us. Striking us on our port side, thereby causing us to fill rapidly. Ran the smack on the sand to prevent sinking into deep water . Side lights burning brightly at the time. The smack was raised the following afternoon about 2 O'clock and proceeding to Hull was docked the same night.
